Started weeding out the border down one side of the lawn this morning while waiting for garden centre to open. Noticed hoards of green foliage that I didn't recognise. Couldn't remember planting anything there, and knowing that things that thrive that well tend to be unwanted I cleared almost all of it out. Anyway been shopping and had a good splurge on plants, then grabbed some seeds - red nasturtiums and poppies as it's a red border - and the the penny dropped. I'd sown a drift of poppy seeds last year, they hadn't grown at the time and I'd forgotten about them. Think they may finally have germinated and I've pulled them up! A well once I've had a wee sit down with lunch I'll go plant my new purchases and sow again.
