Irish plant?

Hi, does anybody know of a lovely Irish plant?

I'd like to buy one for MIL for Christmas. Their dog passed away recently, and normally they bury all their animals in the garden, but due to the way this particular dog died, they weren't able to have the body back or get the ashes.

MIL was mentioning recently how they don't have any signal of him in the garden unlike all the others, and as he was an Irish dog, I thought an Irish plant to mark him by would be nice.

Is there a nice one?!

It's not a plant but a tree. An ash tree is indigenous to Ireland and is used to make Hurley and camogie sticks. But possibly a bit big. A hawthorn too. Traditionally used to make walking sticks.
