How do I get rig of brambles?

Hiya,
I am not a gardener at all. Just want to keep the back garden nice (we don't acutally use this, use side garden and front more). Garden got overgrown, brambles there. We know there was always a problem, it is growing from beneath the road behind us, so we can't get to the rooths.
We are sick of cutting them all the time. Is there anything else that we can do?

I used to cut mine as short as possible and pour boiling water from the kettle over the stumps at my old house. Not sure if it worked but it makes you feel a bit more empowered!

Make bramble and apple pie!

There are products which contain glyphosate, either in spray form or with a paint brush in the lid, and you just spray on , or paint the leaves and it takes the poison back to the roots... you have to be patient, and it will take a while... we have gone 100% organic so cutting and digging is our only option, but if you dont mind chemicals... you need glyphosate.

By being persistant....chop them back and keep chopping them back....
