your council for a compost bin maybe - ours does v. good offers, much cheaper than retail, and your water company for a water butt

Try your local council. They often sell these cheaper than you can find them elsewhere.

Our local council will sell them really cheap. Have you tried your Council? Look on their website or local paper/leaflets.

We have a water butt that we need to get rid of. Ir you can pick it up you're welcome to it. We're in the NW.

Ordered a compost bin £7 including a carry bucket thing for in the kitchen!

Can't find a reasonable water butt though, local garden centre ones(that I thought were expensive!) are cheaper than the water board

Your compost bin sounds a bargain. Good for you. We emptied ours for the very first time in 6 yrs or so the other day and had lots of lovely compost from it for the shrubs.

I like my water butt and we put it in a very sensible position but we didn't think of the strong winds damaging it by blowing it off the base in winter. We tend to leave it empty in winter as it isn't needed for water then and it was so light it got blown off the base, the clips broke and the lid got blown around the garden. So my advice would be to bear that in mind when you decide where it should go. We've now put a heavy stone or two in the bottom of the inside to help weigh it down a bit.

my local council are doing huge composters for £8 at the moment so i got that plus £2 kitchen caddy.the water butts are £30 so saving up.my ds who is almost 6 is very into anything to do with recycling,reusing etc so we thought hed love it.

I got my composter from my water company. It was £6 with free delivery and is one of those with the little door at the bottom so you can get the compost back out. I love it!
