Looking for inspiration

I'm after ideas for what to plant in a slightly tricky corner. The area is about 1 metre square and gets no direct sunlight. The soil is pretty decent, neutral and well- drained.

There's a fuchsia, Japanese Anemone, Geranium, Hellebore and a couple of Astrantias nearby, which are all doing well. So, it's not like the growing conditions are impossible, just no direct sunlight.

The other restriction is that whatever I grow here can't get too high. May be 1.20-1.50 metres max. Slugs can also be a problem, but we are working on that.

Does anyone have any bright ideas? The spot is right by my patio doors, so I look at this bare patch of earth every day, hoping for some inspiration!

I would have suggested what you have! In a spot with some of those we also planted a couple of ferns.

I love ferns too :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention that the garden is quite exposed. Would ferns be able to withstand high wind speeds, or do they get damaged easily?

I think they're pretty resilient. Here's more info
