Anyone else had this trouble this year? I'd not experienced it before but have recently heard someone else saying theirs haven't flowered this year either.

Mine never flowered until this year!

They do take some time to flower. They don't like being moved and like their roots restricted. An older one of mine flowered, but the newly planted one didn't.

I do remember them mentioning agapanthus on the last episode of gardeners question time on R4, I don't know if you're a listener. I have absolutely no idea in what context though, so this might not be that helpful!

Same plants in the same place as flowered in previous years, just not this year. Seems a bit strange.

Monty said to cut off the flowering stalk when the flowers finish and then to feed them with something like tomato food.

Mine didn't flower this year either.

My friend got flowers on the ones I bought her the previous autumn.

I have some I sowed in February. I don't think they'll be flowering this decade!

Mine didn't flower last year. It's in a pot but I think it was annoyed at being sat in the removal company yard for two months. It flowered happily this year though, so I'm guessing it likes the back yard here. That's not much help but last year I remember reading and it did say that sometimes they don't flower.

Mine flowered this summer for the first time in the 3 years I've had it. Have followed St. Monty's advice and have just snipped off the flower stalks and given it a good feed and lots of murmurs of appreciation

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/09/2017 22:23

Mine didn't flower this year, but I think we had some frost issues in the Spring.

I think their roots like to be restricted. Put them in apot and plant the pot

ClaudiaNaughton · 17/09/2017 22:31

Mine didn't flower this year for the first time for many years. They are in two pots, roots well restricted. Usually there are about twenty heads in each large pot but this year there was one single one in each. Must admit haven't ever fed them but shall obey Monty. They grow wild at the roadside in New Zealand.

They do Claudia! My son's kiwi gf thought I was bonkers for exclaiming every time I saw them.Grin
