Hi can you help. I was gifted a small plant and told it would have pretty flowers. Without a label I had no idea how big it would be. It's now about 5ft high but in totally wrong place. Can you ID it so I can research when I can move it?

Yes, it is verbena bonariensis. Usually, it's just grown as an annual, as I don't think it survives in cold areas, so I don't think you can dig it up and move it. It will probably self-seed though, and you might find babies coming up next year. Or, you could remove the seed heads and scatter the seeds where you would prefer it to grow. I have it in my garden, seed sown from a plant originally bought many years ago, and I just pull up those seedlings growing in the wrong place.

Yes Verbena Bonariensis. You can cut it back and move it, it will grow back next year. However, if you just leave it, it will self seed and you can then leave the ones you want and pull out the ones you don't.

Why is it in the wrong place?

Thank you everyone. It's in the wrong place as it is dwarfing a large number of plants beneath it
I may let it go to seed and end up with more and thin out as appropriate
