How do you remember when to plant seeds at the right time?

Every year I plan (in my mind) to sow veg and flower seeds, and then when I remember again, the optimum time has passed. I am planning on writing at the top of each month on my next year calendar what should be planted that month, but do you have any other suggestions?

It's all about being organised - which is why every year I have loads of unused seeds!! Most seeds have a 3 month window to plant though so shouldn't be too hard...
Plan what you really want and work round that.

DH & I now have a shared garden google calendar with planting / harvesting / garden jobs on it.
It's our first year of doing it so it takes a bit of getting used to but we've managed to do more things this year because of it.
We are pretty good with online calendars and reminders though as both of us have work and family ones on our phones already and I also use one to keep tabs on my elderly mothers care.
We also have a written calendar but we (DH) tends to ignore that.
I only fill garden jobs in on weekends as I know they won't get done otherwise.

I have brought a folder from Poundland. Each wallet has a bit of A4 paper with Sow X month and the seeds in it. I've also made a list that I'm going to put on the fridge to help.

get bulldog clips, write the month on each with a chalk pen and clip all the month's together.

Ooh I love the bulldog clip idea, thank you @AlternativeTentacle I shall get that one into action as soon as possible. I think I will also put reminders on the top of my calendar as it lives on the fridge and I always look at it. I don't tend to look at digital reminders that much (I need a reminder for my reminders haha!)

I wonder if there is a UK version of this:

www.gardenate.com

It's veggies only Australian site that updates you monthly. One of the nice things about it is that has no ads.

@echt what a fab website, thank you! I shall bookmark it and try and remember to use it Grin
