I was given a herb planter which has got carried away and a but woody. Can anyone recommend how I should cut and care for this to keep it in its best condition?
I have sage, thyme, lavender, oregano and rosemary

Some of these herbs seem to have outgrown your planter. They are often sold potted up as gifts, but each plant should have more space as it matures. The Rosemary, sage and lavender, all need pruning now, to keep them nice and bushy.
I'd give each a pot, similar to the blue one in the picture. Prune off any flowering tips and water well. They will soon be going into a rest period over winter.
The thyme could stay in the planter with some similar different flavoured thymes and perhaps some chives. Although the chives will also be dormant over winter.
