Hi my ex partner left last year and I'm only just feeling ready to get back into the garden. I've never done gardening before at all and I basically just know how to mow the lawn.

There are lots of weeds everywhere and the bushes and shrubs are really overgrown.

Can anyone give me any info on where on earth do I start. I'm not very strong so will probably need to use electric stuff mostly.

Its starting to look like brambles lol and there are blackberries coming through

I'd be really grateful for any tips and advice and any pointers to other good websites for gardening for first timers.

Gardening is great therapy and enjoyment. Remember there's no right or wrong, just go with the flow! The plants will decide most of it for you.
Firstly I'd sort out the weeds and shrubs. Pull out the weeds before they get a chance to set seed, then there will be less next year. Secondly identifying your shrubs and find out when to prune them.
Some will flower on the growth made this year, so don't Autumn prune. Some will flower on new growth next spring, so can be pruned now.
Pick you blackberries and then cut down the brambles.
Over the winter decide where your borders will be and dig them over, ready for planting in the spring.
Come back on here and ask away, Gardeners are always keen to share! Good luck and enjoy.
