Best strawberry variety

I'm getting a bed ready for 10 new strawberry plants. Which type would you recommend?

I've heard Aromel is good for cropping over a long period. So am quite interested in the perpetual ones.

Also on the look out for a super early variety.

Many thanks!

Elsanta is good but it's June bearing. I've tried a new one this year called Freeclimber from Lubera and it's done reasonable well considering it's in its first year but the strawberries are the best I've ever tasted. I've not tried everbearing myself but Which? Gardening recommend Albion, Finesse and Malling Opal.

Thanks Unremarkable, I'll look out for those.

Mara des Bois are delicious and crop over a long period. I still have flowers on mine as well as fruit.

Ah, I have heard good things about Mara des bois, for a perpetual variety.

I'm hoping all the garden centres will start to stock up on runners soon. I bought 3 x honeoye already but the choice seems limited generally.

I bought five elsanta plants in May of this year. They did fruit, but not at all well. I think I had maybe 15 strawberries in the season. Hoping for better things next year, but I'm not sure I'd recommend them. Apparently they are the variety served at Wimbledon, so maybe I did something wrong.
