What and how can we make this into something nice? Maybe a flower bed or a veggie patch? Where do we even start?

We've never had a garden before so we have no clue what we are doing! Blush

Help!

Just seen the answers on your AIBU post Smile

A north-facing corner is a bit tricky as many go-to plants will require a sunnier position. That's not to say that there aren't some great options out there for shade! Just don't risk disappointment choosing the wrong plants and blaming your skills for their failure to thrive Grin

I'm not really a veg gardener. The summer veg I grow requires lots of sun. Google tells me broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts and swiss chard can tolerate shade. However I'm not sure I'd bother: a) the area is quite small for these types of veg, b) do you like eating these particular veg?, c) veg growing is actually quite a lot of effort and expense, d) crop yields can be disappointing due to pests and disease - not necessarily something you can control, e) the above are sold inexpensively in supermarkets...I could go on!

For that reason I'd stick to a herbaceous border or small tree.

What does the rest of your garden look like?

You could always introduce some raised beds for veg in a sunnier position if you want to take the plunge!

and is it just that corner you want to plant or are you looking for advice for the whole garden?
