Can I mulch now?

I have acquired a fair bit of homemade compost, well rotted horse manure and leaf mould. Does it matter if I lay it on my clay soil now or do I need to wait till autumn?

What are you wanting to mulch?

You can mulch any time but winter rains can leach away nutrients in vegetable beds. So sometimes better to do in spring.

If it's just mulching in the garden, you can do it now.

It's not for veg, it's just for my perennial flowers and shrub borders. Thanks for replying!

Yes, chuck it on now. They'll love it.
