My potted rosemary bush has dandruff

... or something like that. The leaves are covered in quite thick layers of whitish dust. Yes, I am a housework slut, but I don't think it's that sort of dust. Is this a disease? Is the rosemary still OK to eat?

white fly?
I had it on my strawberries

Powdery mildew? If it is, you need to remove the infected leaves (I wouldn't recommend eating them).

powdery mildew on rosemary

Thanks Muffin - that's the fella. It's all over the bush so guess it's destined for the bin. Ta!

there is nothing worse than dandruff on your bush.....

(sorry, couldn't resist )

rowan1971 · 29/03/2007 15:16

TBH, I'm surprised it's taken 2 days for someone to come up with a 'bush' comment. Can't help feeling I've got off lightly.

In theory you could spray it with a fungicide, but I'm not sure if any of the ones you can still get (a lot were taken off sale to the public a couple of years ago) really do the job. And then you might not want to eat rosemary that has been sprayed with chemicals.

Unless it is a huge and well-established bush , or very dear to your heart in some way, I'd rip it out and get a new one.

My bush is indeed huge and well-established, with a wide social network.

My rosemary plant, on the other hand, is puny and frankly a little annoying. In the compost it goes.
