What's wrong with my tomatoes?

First year growing them and, I have to admit, I've been a bit negligent with it (although have made sure I watered every day as it's in a pot).

I have a good crop, but as soon as they get red they look like this.

Why are they splitting?

Thanks!

They split because they have not been watered properly! Tomatoes need consistent watering.

They will still taste nice!

Agreed, inconsistent watering make them split.

Ah, OK. I've been a bit slack with feeding them too cough

Are your tomatoes outdoors expat? If they are then the splitting may be down to the strange weather we have been having in the UK. My tomatoes on the allotment are splitting.

Yes they are!

expat there you go then. The conundrum of growing tomatoes in the British summer or build an ark will continue.
