I think they're beautiful. Friend has very kindly given me 4 of them. I am not green-fingered in the slightest and tend to kill most things without even trying Sad

I'd like to look up how to take care of them properly but neither of us know the name!

Thanks

A heuchera? Not sure if my spelling is correct there!

LemonRedwood · 25/07/2017 17:24

That looks possible! Thanks

Yes definitely Heuchera!

GingerKitCat · 25/07/2017 18:56

They like shade!

LemonRedwood · 25/07/2017 19:02

That's good Ginger, our back garden is north-east facing!

Do they become a bit less "spindly" with time?

Yes. And they have babies that you can snap off at the base and replant to make new plants.

I have loads of heucheras in my garden. My favourite is Blackberry Jam. Mine are quite bushy, I bought them as small plants in spring, and they've grown loads. they're not at all spindly, they're really full and dense. They're in the beds though, maybe that is what yours need?

Ooh, that's exciting. I should get planting!

They should be planted in the garden, or in MUCH larger pots, and water them. Should produce small flowers on long stems eventually (often white or pink). They can also be divided quite easily, and one strong plant can produce 6 or 8 'babies'.

Eventually main stems can get long and then 'climb out of the ground'. Divide and replant if that happens:
