What is the best way to train this??

It's refusing to go over the top of the fence, should I put trellis on the wall or over the top of the window?

Or be firmer with it and make it go over the fence??!

Guess it depends where you'd prefer it to grow

I have one like this and tied string to the longer bits and pegged/pinned it to the other side then wove other bits through as they grew

You could put a trellis or string on the other side of the fence and train it over

I think I'm too worried about damaging it! I need to be firmer and force to go along the top of the fence.

It's quite tough. I have it and it takes some abuse but it's in bloom now and looks lovely even though it's in what I consider the wrong place.
Use string or trellis or an arch and tie it.
