Is this cucumber ready to pick?

I have miraculously managed to grow a cucumber! How do you know when it's ripe?! It also only seems to be growing fatter rather than longer...

That looks totally ready to me - Monty always says pick them when they're small

How long is it?

It's about 25cm... going to pick it now!

Pick it soon, nothing better than home grown cucumber! New ones should be along soon.

It was delicious! The skin was a bit thick but great flavour. I've just seen a second one coming along, and we've had some tomatoes from the garden today as well. It's the first time I've tried to grow anything other than flowers - I'm getting obsessed!
