And how can I stop it?! Is it slugs? Or something else? And is there some kind of pest killer that won't also kill my children/cats??

(New to this whole gardening thing....)

What is killing my sunflowers?

Could it be lack of water, they seem to be in very shallow pots.

It could be aphids. They're very tiny green insects that eat the plant. Soapy water in a Spray bottle will get rid of them. Or you can get ladybirds and they'll eat them all.

Over watering - underwatering. Over feeding or not enough feeding....

Looks like slugs to me - you can get organic pet safe slug pellets.

Have a look in the evening with a torch and you'll probably spot them.

Oh thanks!! Love the idea of getting ladybirds (aphids or not actually). Have ordered some organic slug pellets
