Left over soil from digging out extension

we have a pile of soil in a shady area at the botton of the garden. it has been sat there for quite a few years since we had our extension at the back of the house. We can't afford a skip (plus it doesn't seem right to throw away soil). So what do we do with it, not good quality soil. It is in a shady area of the garden due to neighbours overhanging trees.

Plant a ferns and shade loving plants that will spread and cover the mound.

That ^^

Plant anything really, and see what grows.

Or take it away bag by bag.

I got rid of my excess soil on freecycle.

DubiousCredentials · 16/07/2017 17:57

Folk are always advertising free topsoil here on fb.

AlternativeTentacle · 16/07/2017 18:02

Yes freecycle. We collected some when we moved here for the courtyard.

We had a similar problem. Couldn't get rid of it all on free cycle so we paid a company that sell those huge bags of stones etc to leave us a bag to fill up. They gave us 2 huge bags and took the lot away for £50.
Much cheaper than a skip or hiring a van!

IAmTheWorwax · 16/07/2017 18:08

this was who we used.

Freecycle it as 'infill soil, buyer collects'. It is not top soil if it came from the footings. Infill soil is about £50 per bulk bag so it does have value.

Local builders or free cycle. Our builders used all ours on somewhere else.
