Patio quote

We're having a bit of work done in the garden and I wondered if the following seems reasonable for our quote of £6,700:

Replace and extend existing raised patio outside back door with Indian sandstone and create two sleeper flower beds to form the edge of the patio stepping down to the lawn
Install steps down to lawn and step from patio doors to patio
Stepping stone path across lawn and pull up existing paving path replacing with turf
Extend small patio at back of garden and bark area for trampoline

It's roughly two weeks work and sounds okay to me...?

Have you had it broken down into materials & labour? Once you know the labour charge, how many people will be working on it? Is that inc or exc of VAT?
I have no idea if that is a reasonable quote or not but wouldn't be able to attempt to work it out until I knew the breakdown.

Just to give you an idea....We paid a groundworker £160 a day&his labourer £70 a day to do our garden work, new patio, lawn etc. We are in south east but they weren't an official landscaping company as such, just a recommendation. So paying them for two weeks work would have been nearing 2.5k, then add on cost of materials.

Peachy27 · 15/07/2017 22:13

How many people will be working for two weeks for that price?

JamesSpaderMadeMeDoIt · 16/07/2017 12:50

It obviously depends on the size but we paid £4K mates rates for our patio on a four bed reasonable sized detached.

Your quote contains more work so sounds reasonable.

astrantiamajor · 16/07/2017 12:53

I have just had work done, your quote sounds very reasonable.

LucieLucie · 16/07/2017 13:06

It seems like a good price to me, I was quoted £14,000 to have similar done in my garden. That was without steps, just slabbing/removing grass, no different layers.

Misty9 · 17/07/2017 22:31

Sorry, should have said how big it is! Average sized semi garden and the patio is 2m approx at the moment, being extended to 4-5m, and it runs the width of the house.

Labour quote was 2.8 of the total and vat wasn't mentioned actually so I'll check that, good point. I think it'd be 2-3 people working on it, judging from what I saw on a previous project of theirs.

£2.8k that is

We had very similar work done a couple of years ago. That figure sounds about right from what I remember.

Exciting stuff!
