We have an ugly white wall just opposite a window. I'd like to improve the view by growing a climber up the wall. The problem is that the ground is concrete and very narrow, so it would have to be in a narrow container (think of a typical window box).
I tried sweet peas this year but although foliage was initially prolific, it turned yellow and died down before flowering.
Clematis and roses are great climbers, but do they need a very large pot if I want the plant to cover a large area?
