Plant identification please

Meant to add this to my other thread, doh! Can anyone please tell me what this lovely plant is, and if I can put it into the ground? Inherited it with the garden, it flowers beautifully in early summer. Thanks in advance!

it looks like a rhododendron.
it's probably in a pot because the soil is no suitable. it needs acidic (ericacious) soil.
are there rhododendrons growing in soil in your area? what colour flower do hydrangeas have in your area?

Thanks yellow! My hydrangeas are blue / purple.

Looks like either a rhododendron or an azalea. They can be quite invasive, so yes, you can plant it in your garden but it will spread.

Thanks Marklah I'm not a confident enough gardener to manage things that spread like wildfire, I'll keep it in the pot I think Grin
