Is it okay to just hoe all the little weeds in the soil and leave them, rather than hoe and get rid, or pull them up.

I should think it won't kill all of them but it's good for a quick fix.

thats what a hoe is designed for.

ideally though, for perennials, you need to dig out the roots. dandelion, bindweed, docks etc.

Great! Thanks.

I don't mind going out each week and hoeing, I just hate having to spend ages on my knees digging them out.

It's great for annual weeds, because the hoe decapitates them but leaves them lying on top of the soil and they kind of act as a mulch as well! But I agree with AT, for perennial weeds you do have to pull the roots out, because they'll keep coming back otherwise.

Fiskars weed puller is your friend! I have arthritis but I can manage the weed puller just fine (and actually, it's quite addictive!).

Quick tip, if you water the ground you're planning to weed beforehand it makes it nice and soft so the roots slip out easily without breaking.

It is a nice tool and is surprisingly light and easy to use.
