Grey-black fence stain?

Hello! We have inherited a large expanse of feather top fencing, which I would like to stain. I was thinking about a deep grey, almost black? I would like it to look like an old Dutch barn or like the beachfront at whitstable.

Any recommendations?

Is this a terrible job? Can I do it myself or is it one of those things that it's best to pay someone to do as they'll have a sprayer etc?

i stained by shed black with cuprinol ducksback and it looks fab. It's properly black though.

Cuprinol shades do a grey black but that's more expensive.

It's an easy job :)

Oh thanks palomb! Did it take one coat or two to be fully black? They do silver copse in ducksback which looks like it could be a winner but I like the darker one too.

It took several coats but it was green before. You have to do ducksback all in one for as when it dries it won't let any more soak in so it was a long day. It looks fab though and is much cheaper than the Cuprinol shades :)
