Any idea what these flowers are?

They are sort of mini trees (or shaped like them anyway). Are they mini roses? Look like too many petals. Sorry about the crap pics but it's someone else's front garden and I was trying to subtly take photos

They're not azaleas are they? Were the pics recent?

They're roses - can't tell which variety, but obviously one with big clusters of flowers - with lavender beneath. It's a very classic English combo and very pretty.

Forgot to say, if they're growing from one tall stem which then branches from the top (in a sort of lollipop shape) they're what's known as standard roses. Most garden centres - and all the specialist websites such as David Austin Roses - will have them.

Yes the pics were today. Yes maud they are a lollipop shape. Will have to hunt around garden centres to try and find the right variety. Thanks

I take photos of other peoples' gardens too. I have only recently started taking an interest in gardening, but since I have, other peoples' gardens are fascinating to me. I often take photos of things that I like and then I realize that actually I have one of those but it is out of control/woody/smothered by weeds/whatever. That garden is lovely. I wonder if it belongs to a MNer?!

The house is amazing too welltidy. I longingly gaze at it whenever I pick ds up from school . Those plants are either side of a path leading straight to the front door. It's so pretty!

Most owners of a garden like that would be flattered if you popped a note through the door, admiring their garden and asking which variety of rose it is.

Yes, don't be shy about asking. Most keen gardeners are keen to boast share their knowledge.

There's a rose like that called 'Ballerina' - it's a paler pink than those though.
