Underlay for artificial grass

Apologies in advance for the very stupid sounding question Blush

I've measure that the patch of my garden I'm planning to lay artificial grass on is 7.8m2, I've found an appropriate underlay that is 1x2m squared.

How many patches of the underlay do I need to ensure my garden is covered?

If each section you buy is 2 by 1 then you will need 4 sections to cover 8meters.

When laying any underlay it is important to overlap the joins and use as few pieces as possible. Otherwise weeds can come through the joins.

I have found using 1m wide membrane is a lot harder than using the wider ones. When it is wider you need less joins and you can just cut away the excess.

So would you suggest getting a different size? These are the size I can get in the underlay i'd like..

I have mistaken underlay I though you meant weed barrier fabric.

With underlay you don't want to overlap the joins. how many you need will depend on the measurements of your garden.

The 4 by 2 meters has enough coverage for your usage but it doesn't allow much extra.

This won't be separate pieces it'll 2m wide and cut to the number of metres you ask for.
