Hopefully I have attached pictures. As you can see I'm not a gardener but I would love a nice garden and flowers.

I have bought some mixed seeds and want put them along the border of one side of my garden.

Do I weed the majority of weeds/Moss/ dead leaves then dig/turn the soil. or should I dig and remove the top layer to get rid of the weeds that way?

Also would it look odd to but the same seeds in the planter? or should I move it (not sure where) plant something different?

Have fun on your gardening journey, it's a lovely experience.

The ground looks pretty compacted and lacking in nutrients. It's really not the right time to dig over the soil, but as there's nothing very pretty there you could start.
I'd salvage anything that is a recognisable plant, by digging it up and placing in a pot or another bit of the garden. Water well!
Then I'd dig out all the weeds, stone, moss and bin them. Then dig in loads of soil improver, manure and compost. Easily got from the garden centre. There are loads of pretty plants on sale at the moment for instant flowers. You could pop them in, while you research the plants you want permanently. Bear in mind the position of the bed.
Seeds will struggle to mature into beautiful blooms, before summer is over, so I'd put them in the planter, water well and fingers crossed.
