Plant dye aka gardeners world

Just watching episode 11 and in they talked about a non toxic dye that discouraged algae and was friendly to pets etc anyone know what it is?

I was talking about this with a friend yesterday. I would be interested to know what it was too. 9 year old DS fancies making a pond using a barrel as they did on GW last Friday.

I've used this in display gardens. Makes water look black and deep, hides pots/pumps/pipes in the container and doesn't leave a scum line on the stems. You don't need very much

It was a powder Trethew. It may well be the same kind of thing though, you're right, you don't need much at all. It is to reduce light and therefore stop algae building up. I would like to help DS make a little pond, it would be lovely for him.
