I'm clueless generally anyway. It's big though!

Looks like it might flower soon.

Could it be aniseed? (I'm just as clueless though!)

Does it smell?

I think it could be Sweet Cicely, it has an aniseed smell when crushed, and is one of the Cow Parsley family of plants. Those are seed heads there, it has already flowered. This family of plants also contains some very poisonous ones, so a closer pic might be good? Put on rubber gloves and crush a leaf, does it have a nice smell?

Yes it smells like aniseed.

I suppose I have to confess that I probably (well ok did) plant it. I just can't recall what it is!

Sweet Cicely!!!

Bingo!! Totally recall now and I got it from a garden centre!

I remember too I planted Angelica too: no sign though. Least I think (I may have memory difficulties). I'm writing Sweet Cicely down.

It has white umbeliferous flowerheads. Bees like it. I have some in my garden, either planted by the previous owners of self seeded.

I planted it!! Total recall now.

I'd have got it for the bee reason too. Just read that Angelica usually only managed two years so that's fit in.

Suggestion for a tall plant bees love welcome.

Aliums! My garden is full of them, and absolutely swarming with insanely happy bees.

TizzyDongue · 03/06/2017 20:29

I've some of those (not particularly tall ones though) first year I've had any success getting them to grow.

Do like bees!
