Leaf colour on Magnolia stellata (pic)

Is this normal? I planted this about a year ago and the young leaves are a acid green colour. I didn't think stellatas needed ericaceous soil but this looks like a nutrient deficiency to me. Any advice would be most welcome.

Magnolia stellata needs neutral to acid soil. That looks like chlorosis.
Give it a good watering with Iron chelate, and feed with an Ericaceous fertiliser.
