Strawberry plant mother/babies

I've planted some strawberry plants in troughs and they're growing really well and sending out big strong shoots to root new plants. What do I do to make these shoots into more strawberry plants?

I am no expert but I just get a pot full of compost and position the end of the shoot onto it and leave it. I got 19 new plants from 2 plants last year. When the new plant starts to root I just snip it off the original plant
