What to do with this tangled mess?

So, we have a tall palm thing, with a honeysuckle and a very untidy red robin. How (and when?)do I tidy it up? I love the honeysuckle, but it's very woody at the bottom- do I prune it hard back??

Honeysuckle is very resilient. It would have been best pruned in early spring, but you could do it now. Although you will get less flowers. It will sprout from the old wood.

I think I'll let it flower and then cut it right back. It smells fabulous when in flower- highlight of the garden!
