What is up with my honeysuckle?

Planted against east facing fence. Very well drained soil. I planted it about 2 years ago. Earlier this year it looked very happy but now it looks like this.

What is up with my honeysuckle?

Can't help with the honeysuckle but lovely cat! Might it be too dry? Ours likes quite a bit of water.

Doesn't honeysuckle thrive in full sun, very light shade? Maybe its a bit shady at the root. Once the top is up out the shade it should thrive.

Mine is doing this too! Also on an east facing fence. It did this last year too when it was very wet so I don't think it's the weather causing it. It's fine in the winter, bushy and thriving, and the goes bald in the summer and doesn't flower. I am extremely annoyed about this.

That's odd, I have one growing up an evergreen holly tree in very dry almost permanent shade and it's perfectly happy. has been for years.
Maybe it needs a really good prune to about half the fence height and see if that kick starts a good regrowth.

I have 2 doing the same thing. Have decided that they are mardy.

I think a lot of plants are suffering because of the odd weather. Exceptionally dry, then hot then cold and now wet. Plants close to a fence or wall are prone to suffer more from this than others.

I would hard prune, dig out some of the soil around the plant and put in some general fertiliser and fresh compost. Water well over the next few weeks. When you see buds emerging give a fortnightly feed of liquid seaweed or tomorite. Just make it up to a third of what is says on the bottle. They will just need a weak feed until flowers start to emerge and then stop feeding.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a try.
