Easy pretty plants for pots in the sun?

What can I grow that won't get devoured by slugs and smells/looks nice. I had geraniums last year but I think they smell really horrid!

Any recommendations for a hapless but enthusiastic gardener?

Also-what's good to go in hanging baskets??

Snapdragon. Slugs won't touch them.

Also bacopa and bidens for pots and baskets. Tough, long flowering, unappealing to slugs.

For nice smells you could get some stocks, although the slugs might go for them a bit more.

Calendula? Lovely yellow and orange blooms are really cheerful. No smell, but bonus edible flower petals. Once they get going they are really vigorous so should withstand slug attacks.

Can I ask what you would put in hanging baskets as well? Presumably different flowers to those you'd put in pots in the ground??

Trailing petunias (not the upright ones), busy lizzies, trailing lobelia, bacopa, trailing fuchsia These can go in pots on the ground too but will attract slugs until they get a bit bigger (esp petunias and busy lizzies).

Oh sorry I missed the smells nice part! Not sure that the stuff I mentioned is particularly fragrant

Lavender and herbs for pots in the sun?

We had some cherry tomatoes in a hanging pot last year. Looked great!

For perfume in sunny pots I would go for lots of different mints. Apple, ginger,lime, lemon and chocolate mint. They are easy to look after, you can pick the leaves for tea and Pymms. If you allow them to flower the bees love them. Or lemon verbena wish, when you crush the leaves smells and tastes like sherbet lemons.

For easy no faff hanging baskets trailing nasturtion and trailing lobelia are both very cheap. Then you can splash out on a more expensive centre piece. White Pelegaonium would look good with the blue and orange. Trailing geraniums are long lasting, a pale pinky white variety with A dramatic dark coleus In the centre but it will need lots of watering and dead heading. Don't allow the Coleus to set flowers otherwise it will die.

I love Bacopa snowflake - something very satisfying about dead heading them!
