Found this on my allotment. Sort of looks like asparagus but it's very very fat, over an inch in diameter, and curly. If it is asparagus, what's wrong with it?? Thanks!

I'd say it's definitely asparagus, no idea why it's curled over though!

Yes, definitely asparagus.

Google 'curled asparagus' - there are all sorts of reasons why it's growing like this - possibly too dry or asparagus beetle

Any thoughts on why it's so massive? It's an inch thick coming out of the ground

It's just old. Asparagus needs replacing once in a while.
