Feeding

I am a novice gardener but have recently invested a lot (for me) of time and money in my garden for the first time in years and I need to look after it. I have established and new evergreen and deciduous shrubs and containers too. I have just got the hand of watering (don't laugh) and now it's occurring to me that maybe I should be feeding. What do I feed with? hopefully you will tell me that there is some liquid feed I can add to the water as I don't understand mulching. The same feed for the whole garden? And is it every six weeks?

I generally use tomato feed, unless it's something that needs ericaceous feed Acers, rhododendrons etc.
I have put some rose pellet food around the roses. All available at good old Wilkos. Go for their own brand, it's cheaper and has the same ingredients.

Thanks JT. Good to know that I can buy both at wilkos as each trip to the garden centre is an expensive one at the moment as everything is too tempting!

JT I bought the Wilkos liquid tomato feed and the rose and shrub feed pellets at the weekend. The tomato feed's instructions are limited to pouring it neat onto the tomato plant and when you should be doing that. If I am using it to feed everything outside but tomato plants (!) should I be diluting it (like I do with Baby Bio for indoor plants) and would you happen to know the ratios please?

I usually put a capful into a gallon watering can to feed plants in pots or directly round ones in the ground.

Usually about once a week for multiple flowering plants like bedding plants or sweet peas. Roses and perennial plants about 2-3 weeks depending on the stage of flowering. Once the plant has stopped flowering then stop feeding.
