After hearing so much about this rose on here I'm thinking it might have to be my next purchase!

Has anyone seen it for sale in the likes of Homebase, Aldi etc?

Am I right in thinking it would do okay on a north east facing fence? My garden is SE facing so once it gets to the top of the 6ft fence it will have lovely afternoon sun from the SW. I've heard it's fairly rampant but I think I have space for it. I'll need to re-educate myself on pruning Grin

Funny I've never really liked growing roses but since I've followed the proper advice on training a climbing rose I'm getting quite into them! I actually have lots of well behaved new growth and hopefully buds on my existing climber. It flowered well but was a bit haphazard last year Grin Flowers

Yes I've seen it in Aldi for £1.79 and yes it will grow where you want it. Mine (an expensive one from nursery took a few years to get going but is good now and just started this year's flowering.

I had a Mme Alfred Carrière in our last garden - small, north-facing courtyard, so although technically the fence was south-facing it was in shade all day in winter and most of the day in summer, just catching the evening sun.

I ended up having to take the rose out as it threatened to engulf our garden and our neighbours' gardens too. Very, very vigorous, and very prolific! It's definitely one I'm planning to have in our new (much bigger) garden; no idea if you can get them cheaply at supermarkets though.

Aldi have it for sale? Thank you. I'm off there today!

Thanks everyone! Garnet can you report back? My Aldi is a bit of a trek and I wasn't sure that Mirabelle meant currently on sale or that they've had it in the past Flowers

I didn't mean now unfortunately, if you watch the website they put up the offers. No guarantee it will be included in this year's lot but it was the last two years so fingers crossed.

Thanks Mirabelle! If anyone spots it this year I'd love a heads-up Grin

I follow the offers on the website but try don't seem to be advertising the plants this year Sad Grin
