We moved into our new house just before Christmas 2005. Last summer I cleared the garden, which was full of ivy and plants that were so ancient they hardly produced a leaf between them. This was a major step for me as I know nothing about gardening.
In my enthusiasm I also heavily pruned some plants, partly because I didn't like the look of them and I thought it would be easier to get rid of them if they weren't too big.
Well can you believe, today I went outside and saw FLOWERS! On the things that didn't even try to produce flowers last year, hardly any leaves even. And loads of them! It actually looks quite nice.
Am stunned and feel like Monty Don's slightly less talented younger sister.
