I'm not green-fingered. We had a beautiful 'Tawny Tiger' rose in a pot with DCat's ashes, but it caught aphids and died (now sprouting a large dandelion Sad )

Could anyone recommend something appropriate and hard to kill? It's a very large pot and we have a big south-facing garden so could arrange any desired conditions. DCat was a brown striped tabby...

How about an Acer? They have lovely changes in colour, greens, browns, yellow turning to pink.
They like ericaceous soil, but you can top dress and feed with ericaceous plant food.

I hadn't thought of a tree, that sounds nice thanks!

A holly bush is also a good idea. They seem indestructible.

DCat was quite vicious, holly might be appropriate!
