Do you think this alpine wall will work? Has anyone got one? Any tips? It's taken me ages to make this so I hope it survives.

No advice but I love it! I would worry a bit about gravity but I suppose alpines are used to clinging to sheer sides?!

toothgenie that looks amazing! I'm not an alpine expert, so no real advice. Please post again as it grows.

toothgenie · 01/05/2017 17:22

Re gravity, I've used a metal mesh to plant them into, so they're pretty well supported.

ooh fantastic .Again no expertise but v excited .Let us know how it goes .Or grows even .

I've done a similar one with succulents (can't see clearly, but it looks like yours are mostly succulents, not alpines?)

Succulents can do with watering about once a month or so, if you have real alpines there they will need much, much more water.

toothgenie · 01/05/2017 20:10

Liara you are of course right, the majority are succulents not alpines. I have got some sedum in there, are they succulents?

Yes, they are succulents too.

Cant think of a reason why it wouldn't do great then. Are those aeonium nigrum towards the bottom? I hesitated whether to put any of those in mine and in the end didn't, but you're tempting me.

toothgenie · 02/05/2017 22:35

I have no idea if there are aeonium nigrum in there. I thought they were all Sempervivum, it's all Latin to me !!!. How long have you had yours?

Just a couple of months, so really can't say about the long term yet!

Semperviviums are basically unkillable though, so you really should be OK.
