do plants described as hardy cope with frost ?

Thinking about the predicted wheather though I'm in SE London .

I'm not sure whether hardy = will cope with frost ?

I have an artemisia oriental limelight in a tub but not really sheltered and although it's described as H6 ,I'm sure I remember it wilting during an earlier cold snap .

And what about pittisporum wrinkled blue ?

Would covering them in the cheap thin white covers ( they say fleece ) that I got from Poundland be sufficient ?

It depends how hard the frost is and how late it comes ..... but hardy should be fine with the fleece

And should I be trying to understand ground v air frost ? Is it best to have potted plants off the ground ? I always think that a void underneath them will make them colder ...

One thing to consider is the layout of your garden. My patio for instance is a no go for tender plants because the garden slopes down towards the back of the house, so the coldest air collects on the patio.

I'm worried about frost too. Last year we didn't have any flowers on our wisteria as the frost got to the buds.

The flowers have just started to come out and hope the frost, next week doesn't get them!

I went to the garden centre today. It was full of people deciding not to buy plants. Including me.
