What could this be?

Could anyone help me with this plant please? It's filled a whole bed beneath the hedge so I'd like to know if it's going to put on a big show?

They look cornflowery to me.

Oh no! My OH said my planter was full of weeds so I dug them up. Now you've mentioned Cornflowers I remember throwing a bunch of seeds in there.

Looks like golden rod?

I've looked at both and Im not sure the leaves are right. Theres a litbof old twigs/sticks from where its died back before and it also seems to be coming up in other places in the garden. The stems are lightly reddish tinged.

Another suggestion is phlox, based on the sticks.

Phlox does look the closest. I'll eagerly await what comes up then.
