One of these is lonicera henryi, I know that because I found the label in the garden. Blush

Which is it and what is the other? The paler one twines very tightly, and has smaller softer leaves. Both are evergreen.

The darker one seems to need tying in and has firmer stems.

I'm hoping one is lonicera halliana as I want one of those. Grin

I think L. henryi is the photo on the right (i have 2 of those, which look identical to yours)

Not sure about the other one though, sorry

Thanks timtam. I've googled and was none the wiser! So the darker one is henryi?

Yes the darker non-twining one.

And while we're on a roll, what's this? Again, evergreen.

Looks like a type of Jasmine.

Yes, I wondered that.

I'm in need of a climber that will grow on a north facing wall. There's trellis, so it doesn't need to be self clinging. Halliana strikes me as a good option, but I read somewhere that they get a lot of leaf drop and are generally a pain in the arse.

It's a windy site, which I think rules out jasmine, if I were to try to grow it in the wind and the shade. The one I have at the moment doesn't look thrilled with life and that's on a south facing fence.

I think I'd prefer evergreen, otherwise schizophragma hydrangeoides is lovely.

Do climbing roses take forever to get going? I know some of them are semi evergreen.
