I've found this tree in my garden. I haven't planted it, it's just randomly grown next to a pear tree that I've got - can that happen?

I think it's a sycamore? Is that right?

I'd say so.

They get everywhere.

looks like it.

If it is a sycamore I'd get it out as soon as you can .

highinthesky · 03/04/2017 09:51

They have a nasty habit of seeding everywhere. So yes, I'd get rid.

Btw if you see these evil things everywhere your know the sycamore source is close to hand.

yes sycamore - as others say - get rid - tough to dig out once more than a seedling too.

RedBugMug · 03/04/2017 11:14

they have enormous tap roots. will be diffcult/impossible to
pull out.

Ok thanks. I've got some powerful stump remover weedkiller so I'll chop down what I can and then attack it with that.

Go easy with putting down stump killer - you could end up finishing off your pear tree as well.

Thanks. I hope it worked ok, I diluted to the strength you use on weeds, and applied it just to the open trunk where I'd broken it off and the leaves. I hope it avoids the pear tree, I love it!
