Growing Thai basil

I struggle growing basil from seed and tend to split supermarket plants which works successfully.

Has anyone grown Thai basil from seed or do you split plants? If so where do you get them from?

I grew a pot from seed last year. Basil likes warm and wet, a lot of the time the mistake is letting it get too dry. Could that be it?

That could definitely be it, I've always assumed I got the temperature wrong but maybe I didn't water enough.
