Pick me some plants please

I have just dug out an overgrown weed infested border, and now I need to think about what to put in it when it's tidied.

It doesn't get a huge amount of sun, until the height of summer, but then it gets a decent whack. Some traily bits would be nice as the wall isn't lovely, and nothing too tall and solid, since I don't want to obscure views from the windows up the garden.

The soil here is chalky but we'll be digging out the old stuff and bringing down some compost and manure to refill.

Slug resistant is alays good!

Evergreen creeping geranium is one of my favourites - something like
Geranium x cantabrigiense 'Karmina'
I would definitely have some cyclamen for early spring/late autumn colour too

Ajuga Reptans

It looks to me like you're going to need things that can withstand a bit of dryness. I think I might be tempted to go for something like alpines, including some that trail nicely over the edge - aubretia is a classic, but gypsophila repens, Persicaria affinis ‘Superba’, phlox douglasii, ivy-leaved toadflax, delospermums etc. would look great. Secret Gardening Club has a load of these cheap at the moment.

(I just realised you said it didn't get much sun.... hmmmm. I would maybe knock the phlox and delospermums off that list, in that case.

Love the geranium idea!

Do hellebore die down over summer? I like the idea especially as this bed is right outside the back door, so winter flowers would be great.

Persicaria looks good !

My hellebores just go more leafy after flowering , then a little bit 'tatty' leaf looking without dying off, and the new growth comes through the old leaves . I have one white one just about to burst bud, and a beautiful dark purple one which is somewhat later - the leaves and buds are just nicely showing. I am in Yorkshire, so may be behind others .
There are quite a few varieties and colour variations of the geraniums too :)
Don't forget bulbs!!

Vinca comes in white, through blue to magenta. It trails beautifully, but you may have to keep a check on it.
