Can you compost hair?

Does anyone know - would settle an argument with DH

yes - it will add fibre - but it won't rot

the birds would prefer it for nesting material

Our compost bin instructions SAY you can. But I took a load of compost from the bottom yesterday & much of it was hair & sludgey paper (dates from this time last year I think, when I was over-optimistically throwing entire sunday supplements & full hoover bags in...)

right so the it is supposed to work but doesn't OK. Will try it I think - there is only a small amount.

It is from DH - have bought some clippers - he has it on garde 2 and is pretty bald! So no not much..
