companion planting

I have Bob Flowerdew's book on companion planting. Its very interesting but taking me an age to read. So what combinations work for you? Is there a quick lookup chart somewhere?

I had the carrots between the garlic and shallots last year which seemed to work, only slug damage. Planted some poached egg plant but by the time I finally got some to germinated it was almost the end of the growing season.

Am new to companion planting, but I have read that tomatoes grow very well when planted near marigolds and have fewer pests. Plan to try it out this year.

Did it a bit last year, but have a quick look chart at home. Will type it up later when I get back (at work at the mo). Bascially onions/shallots/garlic work well with carrots, marigolds are good with aubergines and pepers erm......carrots and peas I think. Anyway, will come back about 6ish and type it up for you.
