What's happened to my cosmos???

The one on the R is basically OK - I think a cat might have sat on it

But the one on the L looks really sick. It's an old pot, porous, & I didn't scrub it out although nothing's been planted in it for 2 or 3 years.

Any ideas?

They do like a lot of water and sun.

They have had any sun going, but have dried out a couple of times, & the smaller porous pot would have dried out much sooner.

Next time I'll put them in bigger, non-porous pots & keep on top of the watering. (I'm in Lancs & we've had a fairly damp August so I got out of the habit)
